The Year of the Jubilee 2025
Pope Francis has decreed that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee, a holy year which happens every 25 years in the Catholic Church.
In a world that is growing more unjust and unequal, we are invited to experience the joy and strength as we respond to God’s call for a reset, a renewal of faith and a recommitment to a just world.
There will be many different ways in which we will celebrate Jubilee Launch Day as a school community starting with the launch day on 24th January 2025.

Year 4's Coffee Time
As part of the Year of the Jubilee, Year 4 made a pledge to engage with the local community and lead a coffee afternoon in our school hall. The children made posters which were displayed around school, invited local parishioners and even wrote their own Pilgrims of Hope song to share on the day! It was lovely to see so many smiling faces.
What did our visitors say?
à‘It was lovely what the Year 4 did and the singing brought a tear to my eye’
à ‘What a lovely occasion.’
à‘Joyous event. I love watching the children sing. Reminds me of my school days. The reading to us was a nice touch too.’
à‘It was lovely to see the children chatting to other parents and being able to chat with other parents ourselves and the song the class sung was amazing! ‘
What did our children say?
"I really liked coffee afternoon because there were lots of friendly smiles."
" I loved it because we got to serve our greater school community."
"I liked meeting people who I haven't met before."
"It was amazing because my mum got to come into school."
Tweet Street is growing in Forest School!
As part of the Year of the Jubilee, the children have been considering how they can spread hope by caring for our Common Home whilst at Forest School. Each child has used tools and recycled wood to create bird houses which will be hung around our outdoor areas to encourage the local wildlife to visit. Each child will personalise their bird box using their finger print which will then be transformed into a bird. We cannot wait to see which birds choose St Philips' as their new home.
